Some may or may not know my story and “claim to fame”

 In case you don’t Here’s my story. While working for the CBS affiliate in Nashville, Tennessee as a reporter, fill-in anchor, I started D&C Productions with my then photographer, Chris O’Neal.  Most people at the station knew about the company by late 2000.  Chris had resigned to work our business full-time and I was due to do the same by August of 2000.

However, my leaving the station was accelerated, after I wrote (1) press release announcing my new company’s recent accolades including an international award for website development and 3 Emmy nominations. 

Next thing you know, every newspaper in town called us back and were ready to do some full page spreads and profiles.

Then somehow, those articles, all came out around the same weekend, right around the same time I was named Best TV News Writer by the Tennessee Associated Press. 

Despite this award for journalism and the awards I was receiving “off-air”, the powers that be at the TV station, had different plans.

Scale back my company or part ways with the station.

Yep, then I WAS FIRED!

Fortunately, exactly one year later, Ebony Magazine named me (1) of (30) Future Young Leaders of America.

And I’ve been telling that story, MY story, ever since.
